A Touch of Autumn Placemats

Inspiration

I have had plans to design placemats for a while now but I have not been able to do it till now. After I finished A Touch of Autumn Potholders, I decided that I was going to design and make the placemats to march the potholders. I loved how the pattern was quick and easy to make.

This placemat pattern is a beginner-friendly pattern that uses the simple basic stitches of single crochet and chains.

Below are the marching double-layered potholders -A Touch of Autumn Potholders

This Placemat pattern is part of the 2022 Giftstravaganza Crochet Along with Underground Crafter hosted by Marie Segares. The patterns are shared free on the designer’ blog with a free PDF pattern of the featured pattern for 36 hours.

The Yarn

I used Lily Sugar n Cream Super Size 100% Cotton medium weight yarn in Ecru, Jute, and Warm Brown for one potholder and Cream, Yellow, and Bamboo for the other potholder. I love this yarn because it is readily available in local stores and they have a variety of colors to choose from.

If unable to find this particular yarn, you can use any medium-weight 100% cotton or cotton-blend yarn.

I have used this yarn to make many for several projects and have always been satisfied with the results. Below are some of the projects I have made using the yarn. As you can see I have made some towels and bags using the yarn.fSee below my Kitchen towels and Potholders that you might like:

Fasten off and weave in ends if adding fringes (See fringes below.

If not putting od fringes see finishing off instructions below

Finishing off

Fringe (Optional)

Take all yarns and wind them around a 4” cardboard or 4 fingers or roughly the length you want.

Cut at one end.

Fold each strand in half, alternating the 3 colors. Starting at the beginning chain and working on the width of the placemat (shorter side), pull the strand through the placemat using a crochet hook. Pull through the loop to secure. You can use a smaller hook to make it easier.

Do this in every st and chain for the width of the placemat on both sides.
