The pattern is written in US Standard Terms

Change pattern instructions and photos
Ch 39
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch and each st to end, turn (38)
Row 2: ch 3, dc in 2nd and each ch to end, turn
Row 3: ch 2, hdc in first st,* sk next st, hdc in next st, hdc in st just skipped, rep from * to last st, hdc in last st, turn.
Rows 4-19: rep rows 2 & 3.
Do not fasten off.

Work around the washcloth
Ch 1, sc in first st, hdc in same st, * sk 1, (sc, hdc in next st), rep from * working on all sides of the washcloth.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
