Crochet Summer Beach Sun Hat Pattern
As the sun shines brighter and the days grow longer, it's the perfect time to add a stylish and practical accessory to your summer wardrobe-The Free Crochet Summer Beach Sun Hat.
This Crochet Summer Sun Hat is designed to provide the perfect style and functionality. The lightweight, breathable yarn of the sun hat ensures you stay cool and comfortable while protecting yourself from the sun's rays. The wide sunhat brim offers ample shade, making it an ideal companion for beach outings, garden parties, or casual strolls in the park.
The idea for this Crochet Sunhat came up during a design discussion with another designer, Elizabeth, about the Summer Cover-up. We wanted to offer an optional accessory for the cover-up, so we decided on a matching sunhat and summer bag. This way, you can protect yourself from the sun and have a stylish bag for your beach essentials. The pattern for the Summer Beach Cover-up is available for free on my blog.

This Sunhat is part of the Summer Vibes Blog Hop hosted by Susanna of Fosbas. The blog hop runs from July 1st to 31st. Each day, one or two designs are featured from various talented designers. The patterns are available either for free or at a 50% discount, depending on the designer. Additionally, a bundle of all 36 patterns is available for a discounted price of only $12.99.
Below are some of the patterns in the blog hop.
Yarn
I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK yarn 100% Cotton 273 yds (250 m), 3.5 oz (100 g), a weight 3 yarn. This was my first time using the 24/7 cotton in DK. I have used the yarn in weight and loved it so I decided to try the DK.
I used Lion Brand Truboo yarn as contrast yarn. This is the same yarn I used for the Crochet Summer Beach Cover-up. I did not want to use the same yarn for the hat because of the experience I had with it splitting with each stitch. This yarn did not disappoint.
Alternative yarns include Lammy Yarns Rio, Premier Yarns Premier Afternoon Cotton, Patons Grace, Katia Capri, and Cascade Yarns Noble Cotton. Do not stop making this beautiful summer sunhat just because you can’t find this yarn. Use your favorite weight 3 (DK) yarn.
