Maggie Crochet Shawl
Inspiration
Shawls are one of the favorite accessories for Kenyan women. They can’t leave their houses without a shawl on their shoulders. And they don’t wear them because it is cold, but just because it is the fashion. Some of them have a shawl to march each outfit. I try to keep up with them by making my mom a shawl for any dress I buy her, and since she will be coming soon to see me, I had to get to work.
This time I wanted to make her something that is a little different from the mirrored triangular shawls. Yes, I wanted it to still be a triangle but constructed differently. And I also wanted something simple, easy, and quick to make. Something that a beginner can make easily. Lastly, something that she can wear with several outfits and therefore decided to choose multicolored yarn and make in two different colors.

This Shawl is part of the Cancer Cozy Comfort Blog Hop hosted by Designers in the Crochet Designer Community Facebook Group. The blog has several designers put together patterns that you can create and share to comfort someone during their healing time. Here are the designers who have generously shared their patterns.
It is always good to have soft and cozy blankets but sometimes you just want a light covering around your shoulders. This shawl gives you that alternative of feeling warm and cozy with a lightweight covering. You can use it while just resting, but the best part is that you can move around with it, unlike blankets which sometimes are heavy and bulky and are best used only when you are resting.
Here are some patterns that have been shared in the Cancer Cozy Comfort Blog Hop.
Yarn
II used Mary Maxim Baby Sweet Cakes 100% Acrylic yarn and Ice Yarns Cakes DK 100% Premium Acrylic. They are DK/Sport Weight yarns. I wanted something light that she can wear all year round in hot weather since it really never gets cold where she lives. The yarn is light and soft and is very easy to work with. You can substitute this yarn with any DK/sport Weight yarn but some comparable yarns are Mary Maxim Baby, King Cole DK, Baby Bee Sweet Delight, Baby Bee Sweet Delight Prints, and Paintbox Simply DK.

Special Stitch
Bobble st- Yarn over, insert hook into the chain and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops (This makes the first half of dc). Repeat the same process until there are 6 loops on the hook.
Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.
Notes
Even rows-Ch 3 at the beginning of the row does not count as a st on all even rows. (this is the incremental side)
Odd rows-Ch 3 at the beginning of the row counts as a st on all odd rows. (No increase side)
Although the pattern consists of 5 rows, there are only 4 main rows, two with dc & ch, and the other with dc, ch, and bobble.
Bobble stitches are made on all odd rows.
There are 4 dc and 3 ch-sp between the bobble sts.
The stitch count for each row is listed. The first number represents the dc st for that row, the second number the chain spaces in that particular row, and the third one the bobbles in the same row.
All odd rows have bobbles and even rows only chains and dc.
This is not a mirroring pattern

This shawl Is easy and quick to make. I love how the bobbles added texture to the shawl and how soft both feel.
