Textured Crochet Coaster

After I made the crochet Textured dishtowel and dishcloth, I could not stop. I loved the cobblestone stitch so much and the way the dishcloth and dishtowel turned out that I decided to make this Textured Coaster. And did I say how the pattern is so easy and quick to make?

I have always used store bought coasters but this crochet mug rug has now become my favorite. I use it everyday now and love it.

Yarn

I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream 100% Cotton. This is one of my go-to yarns for towels. I love it because of its texture, ability to absorb more water, and variety of colors to choose from.

If unable to find this yarn, you can use any weight 4 100% cotton yarn or any cotton blend yarn.

Border

With Color A, continue down the opposite side and sc evenly around the coaster twice. Sc 3 sts in each corner.  Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Fringes

Take both yarns and wind them around a 4” cardboard or 4 fingers or roughly the length you want.

Cut at one end.

Take four strands, two from each color, and fold them in half. Starting at the beginning chain and working on the width of the coaster (shorter side), pull the strands through the placemat using a crochet hook. Pull through the loop to secure. You can use a smaller size hook to make it easier. Do this evenly for the width of the coaster on both sides.
