Tweedie Crochet Summer Top

Inspiration

I always look forward to Spring and Summer. A time when I can go outside with my crochet lace tops without layering up.

So, I designed this lace blouse with the anticipation of the spring and summer season. I wanted something that is light and airy. Something that I can wear with any fashion without worrying about overdressing or underdressing.

I love this top tank because I can wear it formally or casually. I can wear it to go to the store or on a date, and it will still be appropriate. And I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The best part is that the pattern is so easy and quick to make.

I used criss-cross stitch for the yoke, and love how textured it turned out. Being a summer top, I went lighter with the body of the blouse and therefore used chains to make a beautiful lace. I am ready to enjoy. This lacy top is appropriate for both beginners and advanced crocheters.

I hope you are ready to join me and enjoy spring and summer wearing this fashionable spring top as I am ready to share the pattern with you.

Yarn

I used Cotlin 70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen 246 yds (225 m), /100g (3.5 oz) and Bernat Softee Cotton 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic 254 yds (232 m), 4.2 oz (120 g).

Thanks to WeCrochet for the yarn support.

Both are DK (weight 3) yarns which are perfect for spring and summer tops. This top is light, making it comfortable in spring as well on those hot summer days. I love how it turned out and I can’t wait for it to get warmer so that I can start wearing it.

Sc - single crochet

Dc - double crochet

Hdc - half double crochet

Fhdc - foundation half double crochet

Rep - repeat

Sk - skip

Sl st - slip stitch

Ccs - criss cross st

Inc - increase

WS - wrong side

Special Stitches

Criss Cross stitch (ccs)- sk 1 st, 1 dc in next sc, 1 dc in sc just skipped. This creates a crossed or twisted pair of dc sts.

Increase (inc)-dc and sc (or vice versa to keep up with the pattern) in the same st so that there are 2 sts in the same st.

Notes

  • The top is worked from top down.

  • Rounds are joined with a sl st to the top of the starting ch of the same round.

  • Ch 2 at the beginning of the round does not count as a st.

  • When increasing in the odd rounds, (dc, sc) in the same st while keeping up with the pattern, thus, still following the pattern.

  • Increase in even rounds is worked with dc in next st (do not sk a st), then dc in previous st (same st as 2nd leg of last pair of crossed dcs).

  • Sts are not worked all in equal parts. Worke the sts as stated then finish off the remaining ones even if they are less as long as you keep the st count.

  • Alternate the sc, dc while keeping up with the pattern for sizes M to L.
