Iris Crochet Lace Top

Inspiration

This top is something I made without a real plan. Well, I had thought of what I wanted to make, but did not have any idea of exactly how I wanted to make it before life happened. We lost my mother-in-law and had to travel out of the country for three weeks. So when I came back, I contemplated postponing the release of the pattern, but then I thought since I had made a promise, I would try my best to honor it. I, therefore, decided to use this pattern that I was familiar with. After making and frogging several times, I finally came up with this top Thank God for the jetlag. Whenever I lost sleep due to time change, I would just wake up and start to work on it.

Yarn

I used Shine Sport 60% Pima Cotton, 40% Modal, 110 yds (106 m), 50 g (1.8 0z) with Sky as the main color and Clarity for contrast. This was my first time using Shine yarn and I would say that I love the yarn. It is a Sport Weight, light and perfect for spring and summer. It was easy to work with and I love how the top turned out.

Pattern Notes

  • Ch 2 at the beg of the row does not count as a st.

  • Ch 3 at the beg of the row counts as a st.

  • The yarn color is changed on each row during the chs pattern.

  • No turning when making the chs pattern. Instead, each row is made with one color of the yarn, and the next row made with the second color starting at the beg of the previous row. That is each color is carried to one side of row one at a time.

  • You can make a tighter or looser version by either tightening or loosening the chs.
