A Stylish and Practical Accessory for Every Maker
If you’ve been searching for a quick, stylish, and satisfying project to add to your handmade wardrobe, this crochet headband twist pattern is the perfect fit. Designed with beginners in mind yet elegant enough to appeal to seasoned crocheters, this classic headband combines beauty, comfort, and versatility in one easy-to-make accessory. Whether you’re crafting for personal use, gifting, or building inventory for your small craft business, a twisted crochet headband is always a winning choice.

Why this Crochet Headband Twist
The twist design adds instant sophistication, making this a crochet headband for women that elevates any autumn or winter outfit. Not only is it fashionable, but it also offers practicality—keeping ears warm without the bulk of a traditional hat. Because it’s made with soft worsted-weight yarn, it’s thick enough to be cozy while still lightweight enough to wear comfortably all day long.
The twist is created by overlapping the ends of the headband in a simple, beginner-friendly technique that results in a polished, store-bought look. Even makers new to crocheting accessories can enjoy creating this modern, flattering style.
Beginner-Friendly Stitches With a Lacy Look
Although it looks intricate, this crochet headband beginner project uses only a few basic stitches: double crochet, chain-1, skip-1, and double crochet. This stitch combination creates a subtle, airy texture reminiscent of crochet headband lace, giving the finished piece a breathable and feminine feel. With its rhythmic, meditative stitch pattern, this headband is a great way to practice foundational crochet techniques while creating something beautiful and useful.
Sizes: Toddler Through Large Adult
This pattern includes sizing options from toddler to large adult, making it easy to create matching accessories for the whole family. Whether you’re crocheting for your little one, gifting handmade accessories to friends, or offering custom orders, the flexible sizing makes this project adaptable to a variety of needs. Headbands make great stocking stuffers, birthday gifts, craft fair items, and quick weekend projects—all without the worry of complex shaping or advanced techniques.

Yarn
One of the best things about this pattern is that it uses readily available worsted-weight yarn, making it convenient for makers of all levels. Worsted yarn provides excellent stitch definition, allowing the lace-like holes created by the chain-and-skip pattern to stand out beautifully. It’s also the ideal weight for a headband—soft enough for comfort and thick enough to provide warmth during chilly months.
This crochet headband twist was made using Ice Yarns Cakes Baby Lollipop. If you’re unable to find this yarn, you can use your favorite weight-4 yarn. If you want comparable yarns to Ice Yarns, here are some Ice Yarns Baby Candy, Lion Brand Bonbons Metallic, and Knit Picks Brava Sport. You can choose solid colors for a classic look, variegated shades for a fun twist, or neutral tones for a chic, minimalist accessory.
A Thoughtful and Handmade Gift
Handmade gifts carry a special kind of warmth, and this twisted crochet headband is no exception. Easy to pair with scarves, sweaters, and winter jackets, this headband makes an excellent gift for friends, family members, teachers, coworkers, and neighbors. The timeless design ensures that it will be worn year after year, far beyond the holiday season.

Finishing
- Fold the headband in half lengthwise.
- Fold the ends to meet in the middle, making a circle.
- Twist the right side of the band anti-clockwise once so the openings face each other.
- Insert the folded ends into the other, overlapping the folded halves. Think of two ends and two interlocking C shapes.
To Seam
You should have 4 layers to stitch through. With a tapestry needle and the yarn tail, sew the edges together. The seam will be hidden inside the twist.
Weave in loose ends and turn the headband right-side out.

There isn’t a link for the free pdf for the Festive Blog Hop for Dec 10th. Only a Ravelry link. Is there supposed to be a code?
This link takes you back to the blog hop page, not the free pattern. I think there is a mistake here.

That happened to me too 😢
I have done everything I was supposed to. Signed up, again. Still, no pdf. It simply takes you back to the blog hop, not the pdf. I signed up on Avi’s Granny site. Multiple times since this started, even though it says you only need to sign up once, and signed up for Pam’s newsletter, also multiple times. Still, no pdf. I can’t be the only one this is happening to. Maybe there are others that just give up and don’t care? It’s very frustrating.
